Dr. Mariani joined the practice in September 2008 after completing a Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship at University of Massachusetts Medical Center. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Thomas Jefferson University’s Jefferson Medical College where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Her orthopaedic residency was completed at Tufts New England Medical Center where she received the Leonard Marmor Surgical Arthritis Foundation Award.

She has experience in team physician coverage of all level sports, including Saint Mark’s High School, College of Holy Cross, Worcester State College, Boston Renegades, and the Boston Red Sox. Since 2008 she has been volunteering her time as the team physician at Watertown High School football games. She works closely with many of the athletic trainers in the surrounding high schools to treat injured athletes and get them back to their sport.

As a prior elite gymnast, she can directly relate to the athletes mindset and the physical stresses put on their bodies when recovering from injuries. In an effort to get athletes back to their sport in top condition, as quickly as possible, she specializes in minimally invasive, arthroscopic repairs of sports injuries. Accelerated rehabilitation programs are used whenever possible to speed recovery from surgery.

Dr. Mariani has comprehensive training in fracture management, joint arthroplasty, upper extremity injuries, and general orthopaedic conditions. Her particular area of expertise is in state-of-the-art arthroscopic management of shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle injuries. She has a specific interest in complex ligamentous injuries of the knee, rotator cuff tears, and cartilage injuries.

She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Academy of Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Association of North America. She is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and currently has privileges at Waterbury Hospital, Saint Mary’s Hospital, and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

Dr. Mariani is married with three children. When not in the office, she and her family enjoy spending time together, outdoor recreational activities, or catching a baseball game.
